First Take

First Take was the first production where I took on an expanded role. I started as a regular show designer at the end of 2018, and by the middle of 2019 I was given lead designer role. I really embraced this role. I enjoyed the added responsibility that a lead designer had. I was responsible for helping the other show designers on the show with any help they needed. I made sure that the look of the show was consistent week-to-week and hashed out any problems we had with current graphics. Another added responsibility I had were projects. I was would be given animation assignments whenever there was a big event upcoming. This was the first time at ESPN where I was able to work on my animations skills and thanks to the resources I had, my skills in that area progressed greatly. There aren't as many monitors as other shows, so below are some of my favorite topline/runner combinations I have created for the show. 

One of the responsibilities as lead designer for First Take were the custom animations requests. Anytime we did the show from a remote location, or there was a special event, I was tasked with creating bumps, re-joins, and transitions with material from such event. Below I have some examples of a couple reels from two events that we covered during my time as lead designer. The 2018 NBA ASG, and Wilder v Fury II. The other 3 animations are more custom requests. I have 2 custom front ends and a custom transition. All of these were requested because we were laughing new segments for the show. There's a front end animation for a new segment we were launching for Max Kellerman, a transition for a new Noon SportsCenter segment called First Take Last Take, and a front end for a franchise segment we were launching for the NBA Bubble in Orlando during the COVID Playoffs.  
Another one of the projects as lead designer was to create a logo for one of our events during Veteran's Week. We did a remote show from a military base and I was tasked with creating some live event elements and a logo that would be printed onto a place which I thought was pretty awesome.
